Will my kitten have registration papers?

Yes! All kittens at Velloso Cattery are registered with TICA.

Are your Queens and Kings health tested?

Yes! All Queens, Kings, and kittens are required to pass health examinations with a licensed vet. furthermore, all Queens and Kings will have DNA blood panels done to ensure they are not carriers of genetic diseases. We also screen for HCM and Hip Dysplasia on a yearly basis.

How much should I expect to spend for a Purebred Scottish Fold/Straight?

Velloso Scottish Kittens start at $1500 and go up from there depending on Quality of show features and color/pattern.

How much should I expect to spend for a Purebred Maine Coon?

Velloso Maine Coons start at $2500 and go up from there depending on Quality of show features and color/pattern.

How do I know that I am not getting scammed?

If you are offered a Pure Bred Maine Coon for less than $1500 or a Pure Bred Scottish Fold/Straight for less than $1000, please be weary of the many people running kitten mills and scams. Some red flags to watch out for:

• kitten is advertised as cheap ($1500 or less for Maine Coons or $1000 or less for Scottish)

• breeder cannot produce more than a couple photos of kitten

• breeder refuses to do a phone call or a video call

• kittens parents are not onsite

• breeder requests deposit before sending pictures or video

• breeder offers to ship kitten for free
  

What is your adoption process?

The first step is to become an approved Pet Parent by filling out the application on our website. Once you are an approved Pet Parent you can join our waitlist for future kittens or look at current available kittens. When you find your perfect baby, adoption process starts with reviewing our kitten contract and putting your deposit down to reserve your baby. We will make sure you have access to pictures, videos, and our nursury live stream as your baby grows. At 14-16 weeks old your little one will be ready to come home after a vet has certified their health.

How do I get my health certified kitten home?

We are located in Chester, VA (close to Richmond, VA) and will approve adoptions within the continental United States. Methods of delivery/pickup available

• Come visit our cattery, meet the parents, and pick up your kitten in person.

• We will deliver for FREE within 100 miles to authorized Pet Parents

• Travel to Richmond International Airport (RIC) and we will meet you with your little one flight ready.

• Courier Services are available for those who cannot pick up and/or are over 100 miles from our cattery. (at an additional cost depending on distance away from cattery, ask for a quote)

• Meet us at a TICA Show and get to see our showing cats in action!
